In a surprise move by the White Sox, the Atlanta Braves have acquired Javier Vasquez and Boone Logan from the white sox for a list of minor leaguers(4). The words on the minor leaguers are that none of them are quite major league ready but this could be a movement that the White Sox started last year and could be giving Lance Broadway a shot at the starting rotation for this upcoming spring.
Will this move between the White Sox and Braves jump-start a very slow free agent and trade market? Every big name pitcher seems to still be out there with every team really waiting not only to see where C.C. Sabathia ends up, but what could happen at the upcoming Winter Meetings. The trade market seems to be on the same waiting game that the free agent market is playing. Peavy seems to be the big name still out on the trade market, with the Rockies already making a splash with the Matt Holiday trade and now with the Braves and White Sox. The next teams to make trades seem to be the Twins, who are looking to acquire a strong right handed bat from the left side of the infield to protect Justin Morneau. The Rockies could also be looking to deal some more talent along with the Orioles.
